Providers -
Today I want to thank each of you for giving so much of yourself to this effort. Win or lose today...all of your hard work--- every phone call, every door knock, --and every single housecall has made a difference.

We are not are not the same as we were before this campaign started. We have learned to believe in our power to stand up for better, and that is a lifelong gift.

I am proud to be part of this team effort and to be working with all of you.

After many weeks of waiting, the final election results are in.

Total votes for the WSRCC: 648
Total votes for the WFSE: 552
Challenged or void ballots: 36
Total providers who did not vote: 608

The Washington Federation of State Employees did NOT receive a majority of votes cast. Therefore, we no longer can represent or lobby on behalf of providers. However, the Federation salutes AFH providers for your courage and dedication.

You do very important work for the state of Washington and we hope that the state finally recognizes this. We wish you the very best with the union of your choice-the WSRCC. We fully respect your decision to vote for the Council and we challenge the WSRCC to take this vote of confidence very seriously. We challenge the Council to negotiate a strong union contract for providers with the state. It is our hope that providers finally win what they deserve:

1. $100 minimum a day for state clients
2. Health insurance for all providers
3. No high cost liability insurance

As your union representative, the WSRCC is your resource for assistance.  We hope the awareness this campaign has raised in the public eys will benefit Adult Family Home Providers and their residents.

Our most sincere wishes for the very best,

Megan Parke
